What is a Forward Deployed Engineer?+
A Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) works directly with customers to understand their problem and builds and ships the software, often AI and cloud solutions, that solves it.
Who is this FDE program for?+
Developers, solution engineers, consultants and technically strong freshers who enjoy both building software and working with people.
Do I need prior experience?+
Basic programming helps, and the program covers Python, backend engineering, SQL, AI and the cloud from the foundations up. Our advisors can suggest the best starting point for you.
How long is the program?+
16 weeks, about 98 hours across 10 modules, with a hands-on lab in every module.
What will I learn?+
Python, backend APIs, SQL, LLM APIs, retrieval (RAG), AI agents, AWS cloud foundations, Docker, and how to scope, demo and deliver work for a customer.
What projects will I build?+
A customer-support agent that looks up orders, a static website on S3 with secure IAM access, and a containerised three-service application.
How is an FDE different from a software engineer?+
FDEs spend much of their time with customers: discovering needs, prototyping quickly, and turning feedback into shipped solutions.
Is there a certification?+
There is no single FDE certification. The program builds a portfolio of customer-style projects, and we advise on cloud and AI certifications that support it.
Is the course online or in the classroom?+
Both. Join us at our Arumbakkam centre in Chennai or live online from anywhere. Session recordings are shared with you for revision, so you can catch up if you miss a class.
